Kolb or Skelton and Other Quarterback Battles

I hope the Cardinals experience a great deal of success this year.  It will be very interesting to see what happens with the Quarterbacks on the team. Will the highly paid Kolb finally prove his worth and thrive as the starter? Or will Skelton be one of those guys who works hard and earns a starting job? Only time will tell. I personally have no preference, I jut want to see some wins for the Cards.

Several other QB battles exist. Jackson or Flynn in Seattle, Moore vs Tannehil in Miami, Hasselbeck vs Locker in Tennessee, Gabbert or Henne in Jacksonville,  and McCoy vs Weeden in Cleveland. Who will win the jobs? Only time will tell. It will surely be an interesting season.

Predictions Update

I have now finished the AFC East, NFC West, and the NFC North. It is taken longer then i expected. It is a real time consuming process mapping out the results of each individual game in a way that they can later be updated by a change in points for/points against.

Dallas Clark to Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Photo: www.indystar.com

Dallas Clark is an interesting pick up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had a great career in Indianapolis and should be an asset to Josh Freeman. The Bucs have really bolstered his targets by adding both Vincent Jackson, and Clark. Mike Williams, Arrelious Benn, Vincent Jackson, and Dallas Clark all in the passing game, Legarette Blount and Doug Martin in the running game, the Bucs could show some healthy improvement last year. There is no reason they can’t return to the success they had two years ago.  They play in an extremely tough division. The NFC South is going to be an absolute war. The Panthers have a star Quarterback in Cam Newton, the Saints have lost Vilma and their head coach, and the Falcons will be fighting for the playoffs as they do every year. Where will the Bucs lay at the end of the season, and who will win the division? It is going to be an interesting year in the NFL.

Predictions

I have completed the calculations for the AFC East and NFC West. I have been extremely busy with work and not had the time I wish I had to finish them. My goal for this week is to complete every division I have remaining. The predictions will be based off of last years stats in points for and points against. I will explain more when I post. The second step of the predictions will be attempting to guess points for and points against for this year based off personnel changes. I know it will be difficult and include guess work but I am excited about trying. All predictions, end of week, guaranteed.

AFC East

I examined Points For and Points Against from last season. I then used this information and a form of Power Rankings to predict outcomes of games. Here is what the AFC East resulted in due to my calculations. At a later date, I am goingxamine teams and predict how their number change due to personal changes. These subtle changes could have big impacts. The close game between Baltimore and the Patriots in Week 3 could result in a Patriots loss if the Ravens can muster up a bit more offense, or prevent scoring.

Buffalo Bills 4-12

New York Jets 7-8-1

Miami Dolphins 9-7
New England Patriots 16-0

The 2012-2013 Season Predictions

It is always tough to envision what is going to happen over the course of an NFL season. I have begun the process of trying to predict the records for teams during the 2012-2013 season. I am using a formula I read about in the book Mathletics by Wayne Winston. The formula uses points for and points against to get winning percentage, and try to determine a teams outcome for the season. Over the following weeks I will go through division by division and display my findings. After the analysis with last years stats I will look at teams and try to determine what their off-season moves did to change their production on offense and defense. At that time I will have new results for how many games the teams won and will write about those. It is a long process but should prove to be interesting. I am currently working on the AFC East. The teams in the East will be the first ones to have their data displayed.

Junior Seau Found Dead

It is a sad day in the football world. Junior Seau had died at the age of 43. I remember him as one of the elite defensive players when I was growing up. He is synonymous with the San Diego Chargers and it was amazing to hear the good things said about him by those whose lives he had touched. Hopefully he is in a better place and his family can find peace. He will be missed by many.
